Aquatic activities in Plouescat
The nautical center of Plouescat is very dynamic and its personal is welcoming and strongly dedicated. Private lessons, sailing stages, Sand yachting, kayak, stand-up paddle and Pirogue, swimming lessons, classes of aerobics are available. From the age of 6, children are greeted for Optimist boat lessons.
SURFING
Surfing, bodyboarding and stand up paddle are essential activities in Brittany in summer and winter. A nomadic surf school is located in Kerlouan on the beach of Boutrouilles, 10 minutes drive from Plouescat. Golf in and around Plouescat
Golf driving range of Plouescat is a training center for beginners or experienced players. It is a 5 minutes’ drive from home or 15 minutes’ bike. If you want to play a golf course, there is a 9 holes golf course at Carentec and an 18 holes golf course in Brest and Penn Ar Bed.
Tennis club
5 minutes’ walk from the house, Plouescat tennis club offers 4 outdoor courts and tennis lessons from beginner to intermediate players (during summer).
Fishing in Plouescat
Plouescat is a perfect place for those who like fishing.
On-foot fishing (cockles , prawns, crabs , periwinkles , clams … ) . This is a fun and educational activity praised by children from 3 years.
Cast fishing can be practiced from a boat (bass, sea breams…). From the house, direct access to Porsguen Beach known for its small puddles conducive to shrimp, limpets and periwinkles!
Hiking, biking or horseriding
Plouescat has a beautiful and dense coastal landscape. During your stay, you can hike on the “Goémoniers” circuit which is a plot of the customs system (“Circuit des douaniers”) (GR34). Numerous bike trails allow you to visit Plouescat and its surroundings. 2 bikes are available in Villa Sterenn. Horseback riding is also possible through the Pony Ranch Plounevez -Lochrist.
Enjoy seafood at Roc’h Ar Mor Restaurant facing the beach
Enjoy a seafood platter freshly caught in the cafe / restaurant Roc’h Ar Mor is a “must” in Plouescat. This place is a big point of interest in Porsguen: kids are loving their ice cream for the “snacks” when parents savor their aperitif…feet in the water. Roc’h Ar Mor is 2 minutes’ walk from the Villa Sterenn and represent a good reason to spend holidays in Plouescat.
Enjoy pancakes and crepes
Buckwheat galettes and crepes are typical in Britain. 2 creperies are located in the immediate vicinity of Villa Sterenn: L’Essentiels and Enez-Eog. In the town of Plouescat, La Dentellière also serves excellent crepes. Less known but delicious, The Kig Farz Ar is an other speciality of North Finistere that you can discover each Tuesday in Enez – Eog.
Local market
Every Saturday morning, take a stroll on the market in Plouescat and discover our local products: seafood, meats, vegetables… The market is under the old Halles.
On Sunday morning (only in July and August), Kerfissien market is held in the neighboring town of Cléder, the market is facing sea.
Casino
There is also a Casino in Plouescat, access is restricted to adults on presentation of ID. Slot machines and traditional casino games are available. The casino also offers theme nights and shows. The restaurant and bar are opened 365 days a year.
